Originally this site was the location of a great education related resource called the North Dakota Parent Training & Information Center. As a parent and teacher within the ND education system, I found the original site to be an excellent resource for educational issues within the state. I’m not exactly sure what happened, but the site was taken down and all the great info was removed.
I decided to keep the site going, but wanted to include some personal insights that have been garnered from my last 15 years working in the ND school system and having had 3 children moving through the system as well (including 2 that are still in the ND educational system). Please not that the opinions and experiences shared here are not those of the prior NDPTI.com site, and are mine alone.
My plan is to try to provide helpful information that is focused on educational issues within the ND system and temper that information with my own personal experiences both professionally and personally. Having both worked in the ND system for the last 15 years and having children that have either gone through or are currently in the school system gives me some reference points and perspectives that are not available to most people. Most people either view the system either through the eyes of a parent or those of a teacher or school administrator, but I’ve had the opportunity (although some might call it a curse fr sorts) to see both sides of that equation.
While I plan on trying to continue providing resource and reference information as it relates to the ND school system, I also plan on trying to address some of the more risky topics that parents face like drug use, peer pressure, and sexual activity on a more personal level.
I occasionally get emails from other ND based teachers asking about where I get my school supplies. Since I’m kind of out in the boonies, I order most of my stuff online (even with shipping, it’s almost always cheaper). Here’s my list and favorite places to shop:
